City Mascot Design - City Brussels (school)
visit projectFor this school project, I designed a mascot for the city of Brussels aimed at attracting and engaging both tourists and local youth. The goal was to create a character that could be used to promote a new tourist app and make it more accessible and appealing.
After some research, I decided to use the Atomium as my main inspiration. This led to the idea of a friendly character with a body shaped like one of the Atomium spheres. I also created a variation where the mascot rides a scooter, referencing the many scooters seen throughout the city.
The character was illustrated in Adobe Illustrator and animated in After Effects—this was actually my first time working in After Effects, and I really enjoyed learning the basics of animation.
In addition to the animation, I designed promotional materials such as a loading screen, DOOH visuals, and Instagram Reels ads to showcase how the mascot could be used in real-world applications.
Used tools:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe After Effects
